Wisdom of Ages

The time came

Once

In an era of darkness

When the light radiated from within its people

Shined from within their hearts

Lost in darkness yet unafraid

For there lay magic within the minds

Powers within their hearts

And knowledge within their Souls

The time has come once

Again

In an era of light

This time the light outshines the people

The light blinds their hearts

Impairs their minds

Shadows their Soul

Surrounded by a light of falsehood

The people are unaware to the Soul’s fear

For the people have forgotten the magic

Hushed the voice of the mind

Instead turned to the voice of the machine

The machine which radiates the light we made

I sit here and ponder how lost we can become… life running around us at speeds too fast to comprehend. The oneness, the whole of the world… integrated with time

Yet distancing us from the times we left behind

Our memories

Even before our lifetime we were blessed to have the wisdom of the ages. Blessed and yet too busy to look for the meanings, too busy for once we had them and let them fall silent. Silent as a language not practiced and silenced for lack of confidence. Yet we fear not for we have them recorded. Today they are translated  in our modern world. Categorized, defined and compartmentalizes into easy convenient  truths  easily digested as myth, reality or fact…

The fact is

We lost the magic, the gift, the wonder of not understanding and accepting… we even define God… The ancients knew God… Through fear and awe… Through nature and the Heavens… Through the body and the mind… through the Soul

I sit here and ponder…

*

The Seer who lost sight

*

The witch bound by her own witchery

*

The wizard with lost wisdom

*

A prophet to prophesies the past

Yet  the time came once

In an era of darkness

When the people were not afraid

Perhaps the false light shall fail

Will you be able to see?

  1. I always loved these Beetles lyrics:

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
    All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

    Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

    ————————————–

Yet the Lord sends us darkness now and then, and still we curse it.

    • Mossy~ you honor these pages with beautiful words. Time and Time again… we curse all which we have and all which we don’t. Perhaps one day we will be dumb and not be able to speak… but forever shall we think… cursed indeed, without intention

  2. The turnaround is put so well here:

“Instead turned to the voice of the machine

The machine which radiates the light we made”

    Profound words.
Mossy’s comment gives me chills. Blackbird. Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
    I sit here wondering:
In a time when we can see anything we want, anytime at all, a push of a button, a button we made. And we have sunken eyes.

“This time the light outshines the people

    The light blinds their hearts

    Impairs their minds

    Shadows their Soul”

And we are hypnotized, wanting more and more.
A beautiful reminder that things are not all they seem, enreal. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. Just popped in to say hi. I am sorry it has been a while since I have last visited. As a blogging friend I am asking you to join with me on Nov. 1st. I am having an “I am Alive” celebration. That date marks the 6th anniversary of the date my doctor told me I might have 2 years left if I was lucky. That is something for me to celebrate. But, in the phrase “I am Alive” I ask all to see the word “I” as referring to themselves. Can we make it a day in which we all just celebrate being alive.

I have just past the 3rd anniversary of my blog. Please also join in that by sharing any memories from the past about the blog. I am memory guy and do forget so much. Please remind me. I do hope to see you on Noveber 1st.Oh, being a double celebration for me I am asking for gifts. Random acts of kindness as I have done in the past.

  4. A brilliant composition indeed… Such mature and wise lines, that strike nearer home for being so succinct… I love the way the lament progresses, wistfully caressing that, what we lost along the way…

  5. Sometimes the light must be dimmed to appreciate God’s brilliance. Machines may produce light, yet they can never produce love. Imagine your last days spent alone, with only a machine there to keep us company…no one to hold our hand or touch our soul…it is then that I imagine anyone would again appreciate God’s light of love. Beautiful poem, Enreal. Both insightful, and inlightful…

    Peace, Light and Love, C.

  6. A very enlightening piece.

We seem to have a forever problem; reality is one thing, fantasy, an infinity of something else.

It seems desperately important to understand where fantasy and vision; imagination; where these fit into reality. A kind of spiritual test. When do I know a square assumption does not fit into a round hole? When do I know I can reform that hole to square or if that is accepted by being real, and not just supposed or mistaken?

We are given room for many false starts of apparent light, but are they real? Humankind discovers which is true in our own lives and by what reason or rational we define the real.

From the Moody Blues; ‘Cold hearted orb that rules the night. Removes the colors from our sight. Red is gray and yellow white, but we decide which is right, and which is an illusion?’

And in the experience of our lives we seem to so do, and live with our choice.

To understand or not to understand, appears to be the question.

    Thanks Enreal

    • Benafia… been a while since we’ve shared a piece. Your words always hold a fresh insight, I agree upon understanding… isn’t it always so? Thank you

  7. Each will SEE when its their time to see. Sometimes Knowing is Light, sometimes Knowing brings darkness; Accepting without understanding is like knowing…it all depends on who is doing this. To each is revealed a meaning that they can handle. Handling the unknown needs a lot of Faith and Courage. I think in time we will get to being Fearless and Free. Keep the Hope along with Love alive in you, Enreal, its what makes our world go around. Thoug

  8. “Each will SEE when its their time to see.”

You my friend are very wise… perhaps once we own these words we will be able to advance in vision. Thank you for your insight
